Employee Benefits

Our employees’ health and well-being is a fundamental concern to Reston Association; therefore, we have designed our benefits package to exceed industry norms and provide our employees and their dependents with exceptionally competitive and comprehensive benefits.

Reston Association provides mandated and non-mandated benefits to eligible employees. Certain benefits such as Social Security, Worker’s Compensation, and Unemployment Insurance cover all employees as required by applicable law. The following are brief descriptions of the benefits that Reston Association offers. More information about each of these benefits is available from the Human Resources Department.

Health Insurance

Reston Association offers a comprehensive medical plan through Kaiser Permanente which includes vision, prescription, and discount dental benefits. Employees have the option of electing either the HMO Select plan which provides them with access to health care provided by Kaiser Permanente physicians, or, they may elect the Point of Service (POS) Select plan which allows them to choose any physician in the country without a referral. Both plans cover employees and their families. Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to enroll in RA’s health insurance plan within 30 days of being hired, subject to the terms and conditions of the agreement between RA and Kaiser Permanente. Coverage is effective the 1st of the month following the date of hire. RA covers 100% of the premium for regular full-time employees and 90% of their dependents' premium, and 50% of the premium for regular part-time employees and their dependents.

Dental Insurance

Reston Association also makes available to regular full-time employees a separate dental plan that provides basic, preventative, and major dental services up to a fixed dollar limit per year per participant, with the option to go to dentists both in and out of the network. Eligible employees may enroll in RA’s dental insurance plan within 30 days of employment, subject to the terms and conditions of the agreement between RA and the plan provider. Coverage is effective the 1st of the month following the date of hire. RA covers 100% of the premium for employees and their dependents.

Vision Insurance

Reston Association offers vision insurance through VSP to regular full-time and regular part-time employees.  This plan provides annual vision wellness exams and prescription lenses, as well as discounts towards frames, contact lenses and laser vision correction. Eligible employees may enroll in RA’s vision insurance plan within 30 days of employment, subject to the terms and conditions of the agreement between RA and VSP. Coverage is effective the 1st of the month following the date of hire. Employees are responsible for a portion of the premium.

Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

 Reston Association provides group Life and AD&D Insurance at 2 times the employee’s annual base salary up to $200,000 at no additional cost to the employee. Regular full-time employees are eligible to apply within 30 days after 6 months of continuous employment with the Association. If approved, enrollment in the plan begins on the first day of the next month following the 6 months of continuous employment.

Short-term & Long-term Disability Insurance

Reston Association provides regular full-time employees with Short-term (STD) and Long-term (LTD) Disability insurance at no additional cost to the employee. Coverage is effective the 1st of the month following 6 months of continuous employment. STD insurance pays 60% of an employee’s weekly salary up to $1,000 per week, after 30 days of absence due to injury, illness, or pregnancy. LTD insurance pays 60% of an employee’s income up to $6,000 per month, after a 90 day waiting period. LTD insurance will continue for the length of the disability or until age 65.

401(k) Retirement Savings Plan

Reston Association offers a 401(k) retirement savings plan that allows eligible employees to make pre-tax contributions. RA matches the employee’s contribution, dollar for dollar, up to 7% of their annual salary. Employees always own 100% of their salary deferrals, and they will own all or a portion of RA’s contributions according to a graduated scale over a period of 5 years after which, they are 100% vested.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

Reston Association provides a Flexible Spending Account through PrimePay that allows employees to have pre-tax dollars deducted from their paycheck to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses such as non-reimbursed health care expenses and dependent care expenses during the plan year.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Reston Association offers a confidential Employee Assistance Program through Lytle EAP Partners to all employees and their eligible dependents at no cost. Lytle EAP Partners provides employees with access to confidential professional counseling and referral services for help with anything that affects their well-being. In addition, some financial and legal consultation is also available at no additional cost.

Supplemental Insurance

All employees have the option of signing up for additional insurance through AFLAC and SunLife at their own expense. Premiums are paid for through payroll deductions. Various insurance policies are available including Cancer Indemnity Insurance and Accident-Only Insurance.

Work Place Banking

Reston Association works with several local banks and credit unions including Apple Federal Credit Union, PNC Bank, BB&T Bank and SunTrust to allow all employees access to discounted banking services upon being hired. Services include interest checking & savings, auto loans & insurance, and a VISA card.

Legal Benefit

Reston Association offers eligible employees a legal benefit through Legal Resources for only $19/month. Membership entitles the employee and dependents to receive a variety of legal services for a minimum of one full year.

Direct Deposit

This program allows employees to have their paycheck deposited directly into their checking or savings account, reducing the opportunity for lost or misplaced paychecks.

Childcare and Eldercare Benefits

Reston Association provides some childcare and eldercare benefits to regular full-time and regular part-time employees including Flexible Spending Accounts, Flextime Scheduling, Flexible Leave, and Sick Leave to care for an ill child or elderly parent.

Recreational Benefits

Reston Association offers all employees and their dependents free passes to all of RA’s pools and tennis courts. In addition, RA employees and their dependents pay a discounted fee for all RA Programs and Camps.

Fitness Benefits

Reston Association employees are eligible upon being hired for corporate discounts on monthly fees at Sport & Health Fitness Clubs as well as at the Reston YMCA.

Tuition Reimbursement

Reston Association provides a tuition assistance program to all eligible regular full-time employees to reimburse the cost of individual courses or courses that are part of a degree, licensing, or certification program offered by approved institutions of learning such as accredited colleges and universities. RA reimburses up to a maximum of the credit hour cost set by George Mason University for graduate level coursework as of January 1st of each year.

Holidays

Reston Association observes 10 paid holidays a year. Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for paid holidays upon being hired.

Vacation Leave

Reston Association grants paid vacation leave to regular full-time and regular part-time employees. They begin accruing vacation leave upon being hired, but are not eligible to use this leave until completing 3 months of continuous employment. Regular full-time employees start accruing vacation at 12 days per year. Their accrual gradually increases one additional day per year until their 9th year after which they will always accrue 20 vacation days per year. Regular part-time employees accrue vacation on a pro-rated basis on actual hours worked.

Personal Days

Employees who have completed 3 months of continuous employment with the Association will receive paid personal days each year. Regular full-time employees and those new regular full-time employees who are hired by June 30th, will receive 2 paid personal days of leave or equivalent hours. New regular full-time employees hired after June 30th, and all regular part-time employees (regardless of their date of hire), will receive 1 paid personal day of leave or equivalent hours for that year. Eligible long-term seasonal employees receive 2 paid personal days a year.

Sick Leave

Reston Association grants paid sick leave to regular full-time and regular part-time employees for periods of temporary absence due to illness or injury, or for obtaining necessary treatment. Regular full-time employees accrue sick leave immediately upon being hired, at a rate of 12 days per year. Regular part-time employees start accruing sick leave upon being hired on a prorated basis according to the number of hours actually worked.

Additional Leave Benefits

Bereavement Leave RA provides up to 5 days of paid bereavement leave to eligible regular full-time and regular part-time employees who need to take time off due to the death of an immediate family member.
Jury Duty/Witness Duty Eligible regular full-time and regular part-time employees may receive paid jury duty and witness duty leave.
Time Off to Vote RA allows up to 2 hours paid time off to vote during working hours.
Volunteer Release Time Eligible regular full-time and regular part-time employees may receive paid leave to volunteer their time for a charitable organization.

Leave Bank

RA offers an Emergency Medical Leave Bank for eligible employees to draw from should they need to miss work for a qualifying reason and not have the necessary leave to cover their absence.

Other Perks

Reston Association values its employees and throughout the year sponsors company parties including a summer picnic and holiday party for employees and their families. In addition, Reston Association awards employees for their hard work through an Employee Recognition Program.   Discounts are also offered on oil changes and other automotive services at a local automotive shop.  In addition, employees can take advantage of an dry cleaning service with onsite pick-up and delivery.
